Assembly your magnetic encoder

For mounting the magnetic encoder you will need:

Steps to follow for correct assembly:

1.- Remove the old Renco Encoder and screw the assembly support Base (1) to the motor block using the four screws (7) and their grooved washers. Be sure to apply Loctite 248 (10) fixative without excess to the thread of each screw.
To assemble it in the correct and centered position, use the Center piece aid (2).

2.- Once the screws are adjusted, remove Center piece (2)

3.- Screw the Magnet Screw (5) onto the motor shaft. DO NOT USE Loctite 248 (10) threadlocker or other threadlocker, fixing these with threadlocker causes the Teflon screw to break when unscrewed. Be careful not to apply too much force as the screw may break inside the shaft.

ATTENTION: As a reference, the tightening of the magnet screw on the shaft is usually sufficient so that it cannot be unscrewed manually. Make sure there is no grease left on the shaft or magnet screw.

4.- Mount the position cookie (4) on the Encoder support (3) using the two M4 screws (9).

5.- The previous assembly, screw it on the "Support base for the assembly" (1) until the lower part of the cookie stops with the magnet.

ATTENTION: Make sure the bottom of the cookie does not touch or rub the head of the magnet screw. If the motor rotates with friction between the encoder and the magnet, this will cause damage to the magnet and even demagnetization of the magnet.

6.- In this position, match the half threads of the "Support base for the assembly" (1) with the half threads of the "Encoder Support" (3), slowly turning the biscuit counterclockwise until they coincide. Once they match, fix the set of (1) and (3) using two M3 screws (8) and their grooved washers. Apply a little Loctite 248 (10) fixative to the screws.
Remove the cookie by removing the M4 screws (9) that fixed it to the Encoder support (3).

7.- Mount the Encoder (6) to the Encoder bracket (3) using the two M4 screws (9) and knurled washers. Apply a little Loctite 248 (10) fixative to the screws without excess.
Connect the connector in the correct position.

8.- Close the Encoder housing compartment with the original cover and its rubber gasket. The cover should close and it is recommended that the top face of the Encoder be secured with the cover. Usually a few millimeters remain so that the Encoder touches and is fixed by the compartment cover. If to do this you need to add a shim between the Encoder and the cover, add it.

ATTENTION: All support parts are made of high temperature Nylon. Be careful with tightening torques. Use hand threading and fastening using slotted washers and Loctite fastener whenever possible. DO NOT USE Loctite threadlocker on the Magnet screw (5). The threading between the base of the encoder (3) and the assembly support (1) is carried out by initially facing the pieces and turning them counterclockwise until the studs fit. Then thread without forcing because incorrect facing can damage the threads of the nylon threads.
